Have you lost your RC (Registered Certificate) of your vehicle? Are you the one who have no idea about how to get it back? Just be with us, and we will let you know the complete process in easy steps to get it.
The first step is to file an FIR in the nearest police station from where the RC has been lost. All you need to do is visit the nearest police station and ask the station in charge to file your FIR for the loss and don’t forget to keep one copy with you.
The second step is to get an affidavit on a Rs. 20 stamp paper, saying that the RC could not be found despite the police investigation.
The third step is to visit the RTO site of your state, (Ex: Karnataka http://rto.kar.nic.in/) print and fill out form 26. You can find it under forms sections –
Step no four is to collect the xerox copies of following documents –
(i) Vehicle’s insurance paper
(ii) Emission test paper
(iii) Driving license
Step no five is to get a postal envelope with a stamp worth Rs 15, total cost Rs. 25 (usually available near the RTO office itself). Write you vehicle number, phone no and postal address on the envelope.
For step number six, you might have to run here and there a bit, what you need to do is pin all the documents and get is signed by the superintendent at RTO office.
Next, you need to pay the fees for duplicate RC at the cashier box, (Rs 235 for the smart card). Don’t forget to collect the receipt of the payment and pin it with all the documents.
Submit all the documents at the RTO office and relax back, You will receive the new RC at your postal address by Indian post.
